Welcome !

Welcome to the Official Website for BSA Troop 173, Parsippany New Jersey

Scouting makes a direct and positive impact on your community by teaching positive values and leadership skills to your son.  With over 50 Scouts, we are a very active and fun filled troop.  Troop 173 offers a wide range of activities and learning experiences for your child that focus on their continued growth as they progress through the program.  We strive to incorporate education, character building, growth, teamwork, and primarily FUN for our Scouts.  We are a "Family Friendly" troop that encourages Moms or Dads to attend our meetings, special events, and  camping trips so that everyone can experience the fun, together.

Troop 173 consists of boys primarily from Parsippany.  Due to our strength as a Troop and our family centered focus, we also draw from other nearby towns as well.

Troop 173 will be attending Winnebago Scout Reservation July 14-20.  In order to get the best price, there is an Early Payment Deadline: April 28 for Scouts who have previously gone to camp, and May 28 for those who are new to Boy Scouts and have never been to Summer Camp with Troop 173.

We are part of the Patriots Path Council (geographically covering central to northwest NJ) which provides the programs and facilities that our Scouts and adult leaders need. The Council must rely in part upon Scout families for some financial support through the Family Friends of Scouting program.

Congratulations Troop 173 Scouts and Adult Leaders!

Jack Summa's Eagle Project

Posted on Feb 15 2019 - 4:12pm

My name is Jack Summa and I am starting my Eagle Project. I am asking for money to buy supplies and materials. We will be renovating a storage room for the Parsippany Historical and Preservation Society in the Smith Baldwin House. The money will be used to purchase paint and wood for shelving units. We plan on removing  the carpet, repainting the  walls, and building shelves. The project will be beneficial because it will create more room in the house and organize historical documents. Any extra funds  that are donated will be donated to the Parsippany Historical and Preservation Society.

I am raising money to improve the video communications and promotions at the Parsippany P.A.L. building.  I will need to purchase 2 new big screen TV’s, a software package, and supplies.
